Class 142(4) [Also in Group VIII] A pile fabric is formed by drawing warp yarns 3 through a preformed base fabric 5 and knitting them so that they form warp stitches on one face of the fabric, whilst the pile is formed on the other face by shogging the warp guides 2 between adjacent needles 1 on the machine producing the fabric, so that the yarns extend over pile forming members 4. Stationary cutters on the members 4 or reciprocating cutters 10 associated with the members may sever the loops as the fabric is drawn off the machine.
