Class 64(2) [Also in Group XXXVII] In a safety cut-out (see Group XXXVII) of an electric kettle, a U-shaped bimetal detent 9 has a screw 20 passing through a hole in one leg and engaging a tapped hole in the other so that the distance apart of the legs can be set to ensure that the bimetal acts at a desired temperature. The base of the bimetal 9 is secured to the base of a U-shaped frame 5 within which the bimetal is located. Between enlargements on the ends of the legs of the frame 5 and a shoulder 8 on a push rod 6, an actuating spring 7 is held compressed until the rod 6 is released by shoulders on its head 10 disengaging apertures 11 in the legs of the bimetal 9 as the legs move apart on overheating.
