Abstract
836,055. Reflectors. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. April 10, 1958 [June 21, 1957], No. 19636/57. Class 97(1) [Also in Group XI] A reflector for reflecting light from an electric lamp into a beam of limited solid angle comprises a first part A of substantially ellipsoidal form continued by a second part B substantially of spherical form centred on the first focus of the ellipsoid and provided with an aperture for the emergence of the beam of light from the reflector. The sides of the aperture in a support member R provide a bearing surface for the spherical part of the reflector permitting an appreciable amount of universal rotation. The reflector may be continued by a skirt C further to reduce the solid angle of the reflected beam. The plane dividing the ellipsoidal part from the part spherical part passes through or near the first focus of the ellipse and the light source is arranged at the same point. The aperture in the part spherical part B is determined by the lines joining the junction of the ellipsoidal and spherical parts to the second focus of the ellipse. The ellipsoidal part may have an aperture or extension D for insertion of an electric lamp L.
