Abstract

835,915. Window frames. WILLIAMS & WILLIAMS Ltd. Jan. 31, 1958 [Feb. 1, 1957], No. 3652/57. Class 20(3) [Also in Group XXII] Relates to corner joints between angle-, channel- or box-section metal members secured together by nails 26 with a wide helical thread, driven through one of the members into grooves 13 formed longitudinally in the other member. The invention is applied to the assembly of a window sash and frame. A window sill, Fig. 1, is channel shaped with web 10 and flanges 11, 12. Grooves 13 are formed on the web. A frame upright is also channel shaped comprising web 16 with flanges 17, 18 formed with grooves 19. The flanges 17, 18 are slotted back to the web and the sill web slid into the slots until the end of the sill abuts the web 16. Nails are then driven into the grooves 19 and 13. Modifications incorporating box- or angle-section members are also described.
