Class 20(3) A structural member, particularly for door and window frames, is formed by making an oblique longitudinal cut 1 off the centre line of a piece of wood or like material 2, 3 of rectangular cross-section and attaching the resulting pieces 2 and 3, of trapezoidal cross-section, to each other, or an intermediate member, along their shorter parallel sides so as to form a door or window receiving recess 4 and a wallengaging groove 5 at the apices of the obtuse angles of the trapeziums. In a frame constructed of such member, the parts 2 and 3 of the uprights are slightly offset from each other to form a joint with corresponding parts of the sill.
