Abstract

The content of monomeric and low molecular weight compounds in polyamides made from co-amino carboxylic acids or polyamide forming derivatives thereof is reduced by granulating the polyamides and contacting said granules with boiling aqueous solutions of hydrazine containing 10 to 100 mg. of hydrazine or hydrazine hydrate per litre. The example describes the treatment of polycaprolactam chips with a boiling aqueous solution of hydrazine hydrate.
