Abstract
834,075. Stuffing-box packing. TARBUK, F. M., and PFLAUM, P., [trading as TARBUK & CO. F. M.], and HERMANUS, H. Sept. 11, 1957 [Sept. 12, 1956], No. 28678/57. Class 122 (5). [Also in Groups XXII, XXIV, XXV, XXVIII, XXXII and XXXIV] A resilient plastic disc-shaped element (see Group XXXII) may be used as a sealing element. Fig. 13 shows how a ball-bearing 6 is retained and sealed between a shaft 5 and a housing 7 by a spacer 9, a large disc 2 and a pair of smaller discs 1. In Fig. 14 ball-bearing 6 is sealed by a spacer 9, a disc 3 and a nut 10. Fig. 15 shows the sealing discs 1, 1a, in use between a shaft 5 and a bearing surface 7. Angle rings 11, 12 may be placed as shown or placed adjacent the shaft 5. In Fig. 17 an angle ring 15 is used in conjunction with discs 3 and a retaining ring 16. In a valve assembly 21, Fig. 18, a sliding member 23 is sealed by discs 1 clamped in place by a nut 24 and a ring 25. Fig. 19 shows a lubricating assembly for a shaft 31, discs 1 seal the shaft 31 and an oil inlet pipe 34.
