802,497. Stuffing-box substitutes. ROCKWELL MANUFACTURING CO. Aug. 3, 1956 [Aug. 3, 1955], No. 23969/56. Class 122 (5). [Also in Group XXIX] In a plug valve comprising a body 11 and a tapered plug 19 the stems 25, 26 of the plug 19 are sealed by L-sectioned rings of low coefficient of friction material, such as " Teflon " (Registered Trade Mark) or similar material, with an O-ring disposed in the angle of each L-sectioned ring. In an alternative construction, the upper seal is located against a split ring engaging in an annular groove in the body for ease of removal and replacement. Specification 572,265, [Group IV], is referred to.
