849,100. Stuffing-box substitutes. SVENSKA KULLAGERFABRIKEN A.B. May 11, 1959 [May 12, 1958], No. 16118/59. Class 122 (15). An elastic seal for a roller-bearing 1, 2, 3 comprises an annular sealing- member 6 of elastic material reinforced by a ring 7 having an edge portion 8 embedded in an edge portion 5 of the sealing member by which the latter is mounted and retained in a groove 4 formed in one of the rings 1, 2 of the bearing, the edge portion 8 being formed to a substantially conical or conoidal shape concentric with the axis and having a vertex angle greater than 90 degrees but preferably less than 150 degrees. The sealing member 6 may be of rubber and secured by vulcanization to the reinforcing-ring 7.
