Abstract

833,912. Cylinder liners; joint-making packing. MAQUINARIA PETROLIFERA S.A. July 8, 1958, No. 21932/58. Classes 122 (1) and 122 (3). A pump cylinder liner 15 comprises an outer metal shell 16 and an inner metal sleeve 18 having at one end interengaging conical surfaces 164, 182 forming a metal-to-metal seal, the sleeve being pressed into and retained in the shell by a gland ring 19 slidable on the shell and the sleeve and contacting a collar 181 on the sleeve and being axially located by a shoulder 183 thereon engaging a shoulder 165 on the shell. The liner is held in the pump cylinder 5 by a spider 12 locked by a screw 11 threaded in the cylinder cover 8 and the outer shell is sealed to the cylinder by resilient packing rings 200 and 201 located on opposite sides of tell-tale bores 5a in the cylinder and compressed between the cylinder wall and oppositely tapered surfaces 202 and 203 on the shell.
