Abstract
A fuel composition suitable for the operation of aviation turbine engines contains between 0.1 and 1.0% by volume of a pentanediol in which the hydroxyl groups are attached to adjacent carbon atoms. Suitable pentanediols may be obtained by oxidation of mono-olefins separated from a C5 cut obtained from cracked petroleum hydrocarbons. The fuel may be a kerosine or a wide cut gasoline. Specification 814,242 is referred to.
