832,864. Mortise locks. YALE & TOWNE MANUFACTURING CO. Dec. 19, 1957, No. 39445/57. Class 44 In a mortise lock, the lock case 10 has secured on each side thereof a bearing sleeve 19 in which is rotatably mounted a roll-back 14, the outer end of each sleeve 19 being screw-threaded to receive a bearing 18 which supports a handle 17 operatively connected to the roll-back by a spindle 15. Each handle 17 has associated therewith a rose 24 having a flange 26 adapted to retain a spring 27 of star shape, for example, which is engaged behind a flange 30 on the bearing 18. The spring 27 presses the rose 24 against the door outer surface and allows the lock to be mounted on doors of different thicknesses.
