Abstract
561,605. Keyhole covers. TRIGGS, W. W., (Yale & Towne Manufacturing Co.) Jan. 4, 1943, No. 146. [Class 44] A keyhole cover is formed of two sheet metal parts 25, 26, and secured to the face of a hollow scalp 16 by a pin 33 having a spring 39 pressing between a collar 38 and the inside face of the scalp. A drainage slot 20, for condensed moisture, is provided. The scalp is secured to the lock face by lugs 17. The cover seats in a recess 23 provided with hollows on each side for entry of a key which is then pressed sideways to rotate the cover clear of the keyhole of the lock. When the cover is thus rotated, a projection 40 bearing on a similar projection on the scalp causes the cover'to tilt away from the face of the scalp. A spring may be used to hold the cover on its seat 23.
