Abstract
832,859. Cooling conductors; insulators; conduits. I-T-E. CIRCUIT BREAKER CO. Nov. 15, 1957 [Dec. 13, 1956], No. 35706/57. Drawings to Specification. Class 36. [Also in Group XXXV] A forced - cooled isolated - phase bus - bar system has the conductors of each phase mounted on insulators within and spaced from separate housings and is provided with means to force cooling fluid, e.g. air or hydrogen, through the hollow conductors, or through the space between the conductors and the casing, or through both, in one direction through one phase and in a second direction through another. A three-phase system is described in which the bus system connects a generator to a transformer ; a blower forcing the coolant down the centre phase, through a fluid-transfer box and back through the outer phases to a heat exchanger which is connected to the blower inlet. The conductor is spaced from the trunking by sets of three insulators mutually at 120 degrees, insulating bushings being provided to seal the conductors through partitions when the coolant is to be restricted to the inside of the conductor.
