A method of machining crankshafts comprises presenting them in a predetermined orientation to a first machine to turn certain journal-areas, gauging them, and subsequently machining other journal areas in a secondmachine, the machining being stopped if the gauge fails to accept a crankshaft. The machine described is similar to that described in Specifications 832,757 and 832,759.
