Abstract

832,000. Collapsible boxes. CAPPELLEN, M. VAN. May 20, 1958 [May 21, 1957], No. 16122/57. Addition to 762,007. Class 18. [Also in Group XXX] The walls 15, Fig. 2, of the pallet of the parent Specification are prevented from rising through their pin-and-slot connections 16 to the corners 6 of the pallet by a second peg 17 running in the same slot as each peg 16. When the walls are to be removed or folded they are first swung so that the peg 17 leaves an upper aperture in the corner member 6. In the construction illustrated the slots of the pegs 16, 17 are formed by gaps between a metal plate 8, Fig. 3, and an angle member forming the corner member 6. Each wall overlaps the adjacent wall at one end and is overlapped by the adjacent wall at its other end. The walls are secured by catches comprising bow-shaped members 20, 21 Fig. 5, through each of which passes s slide 34 having a semi-cylindrical projection 33 adapted to take in the corresponding recess in the bow 21 in the lock position and in a recess 36 of the bow 20 in the unlocked position. The slide 34 is pressed outwardly against the bows 20, 21 by spring pressed balls 28, Fig. 7, which engage locating depressions in the slide 34. The invention may be applied to boxes other than pallets and the boxes may have fittings for slinging.
