Abstract

831,704. Seed distributers. GREEN & SON Ltd., T., and BARRETT, J. Aug. 19, 1958 [May .21, 1958], No. 16387/58. Class 6(1). A seed drill comprises a seed wheel 2 having spaced pockets 3 around its periphery at one side. against which bears a flexible disc 4 and an element 13 at the discharge end of the drill for separating the flexible disc 4 from contact with the seed wheel 2 to free any seed trapped in a pocket 3. A hopper 1 has an arcuate base 5 matching the curvature of the wheel 2 and a rubber curved stripper wheel 6 is provided to remove excess seed from the wheel. A wall 11 of the hopper is extended partly around the wheel 6 to act as a guard. A cutter 15 is provided together with a tool or tools for closing the soil over the sown seeds. The shafts 8, 9 of the wheels 2, 6 respectively are coupled together by chain gearing and one of the shafts is driven from a landwheel or from the power take-off of a tractor.
