Abstract

831,391. Photoflash lamps. PATENTTREUHAND GESELLSCHAFT FUR ELEKTRISCHE GLUHLAMPEN. Oct. 30, 1957 [Nov. 7, 1956], No. 33933/57. Class 9(2) A photoflash lamp having a filling of finely divided metal foil or wires in an atmosphere of oxygen or oxygen containing gas is provided with electric ignition means comprising a filament 4 connecting current lead-in wires 2 spaced apart by a body 3 of synthetic plastic material which is rigid at normal temperatures of manufacture and storage. The plastic material may be polymers of epoxy resins or fibreforming polyamides or polyacrylonitriles. Mixtures of polyvinylchloride and artificial resins may also be used. The leads 2 may be embedded in the body 3 while the plastic is still soft before attaching the filament 4. The body 3 may be in bead form or as in Fig. 2 a length of plastic wire or tape. Plastic wire drawn from a reel may be softened by hot air before embedding the wires 2 or the wires may be heated and pressed into the cold plastic. Priming 5 is provided on the filament 4 and an insulating ring 7 secures the outer ends of the wires 2. A cobalt compound may be applied to the body 3 to indicate the presence of water vapour in the bulb.
