Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the need of a special heating device by means of a pinnacle section made of a tinner wall so formed in a part of a glass capsule containing mercury thereinside that the thermal breakage of the capsule can easily be made.
CONSTITUTION: Mercury is put into a glass capsule 1. The capsule 1 has one of the ends thereof form a pinnacle section 3 with a thinner wall. The capsule 1 is put into a bulb 4 and suported on the foot section of one of lead wires 7 with the interposition of a bimetal 9 with the section 3 brought into connection with a filament 8. After an exhaust in the lamp production process, the filament 8 is energized to heat thereof to about 1000°C. The resulting thermal shock breaks the thinner wall of the section 3, thus allowing the mercury vapor to is released into the bulb 4.
