Class 44 The invention according to Claim 1 of the parent Specification is modified in the jaws 5, 6 are provided with notches adapted to surround the stud when the jaws are closed upon the stud, the notches together defining an opening when the jaws are in closed position which is greater in area than the cross-section of the stud. As shown, the jaws are biased to the open position, by a spring 7 and are retained in the closed position by a spring- loaded lever arm 13a which is pivoted on the jaw 5 and is movable to a release position by a spring-loaded handle 41, the jaws being so shaped that their closing movement tends to urge the stud or pin towards the casing 1, and the jaws are formed at the ends of the notches remote from the jaw pivots, as noses which rest upon the stud when the jaws are closed thereon, whereby the jaws exert upon the stud an effort which operates to move the stud and the latching device towards each other.
