749,371. Animal traps. MARDELL, H. C. April 26, 1954 [Feb. 26, 1953], No. 5383/53. Class 5 (1). An animal trap comprises two jaws 5 pivoted on a base 1 and closed by means of a spring arm 6, the end 7 of which encircles the jaws. The jaws are held in the open position by means of a catch piece 11 which engages in a detent 12 provided on a pivoted platform 10.. A safety catch 13 is provided which retains the catchpiece 11 in place when the trap is moved. As shown in Fig. 3, the jaws 5 may have shoulders 5b for limiting upward movement of the arm 6 and one arm may have a stud 16 serving as a stop which is contacted by the other arm.
