Abstract

A rewettable glue composition comprises from 70 to 90% animal glue, e.g. bone or hide glue, or dextrin; 5 to 25% of a water-soluble polyvinyl alkyl ether and 5 to 10% of a water-soluble copolymer of a vinyl alkyl ether with maleic anhydride. The maleic anhydride copolymer may be in the form of its water-soluble salt or half-amide salt such as those of sodium, potassium or ammonium. Surfaces to which the adhesives may be applied, e.g. as an aqueous solution, include paper and aluminium foil.ALSO:A rewettable adhesive composition comprises from 70 to 90% of animal glue, e.g. bone or hide glue, or dextrin; 5 to 25% of a watersoluble polyvinyl alkyl ether and 5 to 10% of a water-soluble copolymer of a vinyl alkyl ether with maleic anhydride. The maleic anhydride copolymer may be in the form of its water soluble salt or half-amide salt such as those of sodium, potassium or ammonium. Surfaces to which the adhesives may be applied, e.g. as an aqueous solution, include paper and aluminium foil.
