Abstract
577,998. Photographic materials. WELFORD, S. F. W.. March 3, 1944, No. 3969. [Class 98 (ii)] A photographic wet printing paper has superimposed on the emulsion layer a layer of a binder resin which is water insoluble but soluble in alkali and on the other side of the support a layer of protein. The material may then be packed face to back without deterioration of the resin layer. The protein layer may be gelatin, casein or zein. The binder resin may be an alkyd resin, e.g. condensation products of glycols, glycerol, sugars or simple derivatives thereof, and polycarboxylic acids, e.g. citric, maleic, phthalic, succinic and tartaric acids ; or a polyvinyl acid ester, or a condensation product of terpene with alpha- #- unsaturated polycarboxylic acid or maleic anhydride, or a polymerized n ethyl methacrylate containing free carboxyl groups. The support is of paper. The protein layer is applied to the back thereof in the form of a 4 per cent aqueous solution of gelatin. Specifications 550,775 and 575,512 are referred to.
