Abstract

830,712. Draught excluders &c. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORPORATION. Dec. 2, 1957 [Dec. 18, 1956], No. 37457/57. Class 20(3) [Also in Groups XIII and XXXV] In a gasket 14 for use in refrigeration cabinets &c., containing permanent magnets 15 to secure it to its seating 13, the magnetic structures 15 are linked in beltlike fashion. Each magnetic structure 15 has a metallic backing member 22 of highly permeable ferromagnetic material such as mild steel bonded to a thin layer of ceramic-like magnetic material 21, the backing member 22 having a hook 26 at one end and an eyelet 27 at the opposite end to provide the linking means. The magnetic belt is drawn into an elongated chamber 16 in the gasket and secured by stapling as at 33, Fig. 6. In a modification, Fig. 5 the material 21 is secured to the backing member 22 by the deformed lugs 28.
