Abstract

1,153,138. Magnetic contact devices. BRIGGS & STRATTON CORP. 23 June, 1966 [26 Aug., 1965], No. 28181/66. Heading H1N. Co-operating magnetic reeds 6 of a sealed magnetic contact unit are secured at their fixed ends 12 to thicker backing reeds or posts 7 against which the reeds 6 are prestressed. This allows for a reduced contact gap and higher frequency lower amplitude oscillations on opening. Operation may be by a solenoid or permanent magnet. The reeds 7 may be magnetic and flex to engage the contact ends of the reeds 6 when the latter are saturated.
