Abstract

897,948. Sealing gaskets. WHIRLPOOL CORPORATION. June 30, 1960 [Aug. 17, 1959], No. 23010/60. Class 20 (3) [Also in Groups XIII and XXV] A resilient gasket for a refrigerator door comprises a continuous elongated flexible magnet 20 contained within a resilient housing 22 of rubbery flexible material and a collapsible and extensible bellows 37 carrying the housing 22. The strip magnet 20 comprises an extruded polyvinyl plastic containing a barium ferrite magnetic ceramic material sold under the trade name "Indox" the strip being magnetized to obtain the north and south poles on the outer surface 21 with each pole extending substantially across one respective half of the pole face 21. The bellows 37 connects the housing 22 to a resilient base section 26 which includes a U- shaped mounting portion 32 for clamping against the door frame 13 and the bellows 37 is vented to atmosphere through apertures (not shown) in the section 26 and in the housing 22.
