Abstract
830,599. Oil burners. NORDISKA ARMATURFABRIKERNA A.B. June 27, 1958, No. 20775/58. Class 75(1) In a rotary cup oil burner having a fan 13 forcing air through an annular gap 22 around the cup 14 the oil is conveyed to the cup in such manner that an oil layer is formed at only one or a few spaced portions around the edge 20 of the cup. Oil is delivered through a pipe 16 to a rear cavity 17 in the cup and then flows through one or more passages 18 opening near the edge 20 of the cup. The cup is mounted on the end of a shaft 9 mounted in bearings 10, 11 in a sleeve 12 screwed into a tubular member 4 of a frame 3 extending rearwardly from the burner housing 2. The shaft is rotated by a belt drive from an electric motor 5 supported in a cradle 6 mounted on the frame 3. The fan 13 is secured to the shaft 9. The annular gap 22 for the forced air is formed by tapered surfaces on the cup and the housing 2 and is adjustable by screwing the sleeve 12 carrying the shaft 9 into the tubular member 4. A groove 25 is formed in the tapered surface of the cup to prevent oil from entering the housing 2. Secondary air enters through a clearance 30 between the burner mounting plate 1 and the boiler and is controlled by axial movement of the burner. The burner is ignited by a glow plug 26 disposed in an oil collecting pocket in the side wall of the burner. The burner may be controlled by a photo-cell and thermostats.
