Abstract
830,460. Metal rectifier stack assembly. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. July 9, 1958, No. 21980/58. Class 37. A metal rectifier stack assembly comprises a plurality of sub-assemblies each consisting, as shown in Figs. 3 and 4, of a metal rectifier plate 1, having a central hole to clear an insulated mounting spindle sandwiched between a pair of cover-plates 21, made of either an insulating material or of conducting material with an insulating coating, having central holes to clear metal contact and spacing washers and having a resilient insulating tire 31 enveloping the peripheries of the rectifier plate and cover-plates so as to engage closely the outer faces of the cover-plates. The subassemblies are mounted, together with metal washers, insulating washers and terminals, on an insulated rod in any desired combination to form a stack, as shown, for example in Fig. 9, the mounting rod being used, if desired, as one of the output terminals. Alternatively the stack may consist of rectifier plates with cover-plates only on the outer faces of the outer rectifier plates, all plates however being protected by resilient insulating tires.
