Abstract

Class 100(1) [Also in Group XL(b)] In a tape-feeding apparatus for a perforated tape transmitter, the tape 25 is stepped past contact members 15, 16, by a sprocket wheel 9 having pins 11 for engaging feed holes in the tape and formed with recesses 10 in the rim 20 of the wheel into and out of which a driving pawl 21 is moved by a cam 3 on a shaft 1, and a link 5 is operated by a cam 2 on the shaft 1 to move the pawl 21, when in its engaged position, in one direction to effect the feeding of the tape, and in the opposite direction when it is in its disengaged positions, i.e. moved out of a recess 10. The pawl 21 is on a lever 6 recipcrocated vertically by a lever 7 with a roller 24 engaging the cam 3 and moved horizontally by a link 5 connected to a lever 4 having a roller 23 engaged by the cam 2. The sprocket wheel 9 is retained by a detent roller 26 mounted on a spring member 17 and engaging recessed portions axially displaced from the line of the pins 11. The perforations in the tape are sensed by separate feeler members 15 associated with a common contact member 16. Tape feeding is suppressed, when necessary, by the operation of a relay 8 which, through its armature 18, moves the lever 6 downwardly so that the pawl 21 is held out of the recesses 10 of the sprocket wheel. The recesses 10 may extend over the entire axial width of the rim 20, or they may extend for a portion of the axial width of the rim and be located circumferentially in positions level with, or between the pins 11.
