Abstract

966,786. Printing machines. TEXTILE MARKING MACHINE CO. G.m.b.H. Jan. 25, 1962 [Jan. 30, 1961], No. 2921/62. Heading B6F. [Also in Division B8] A garment-marking machine, in Fig. 1, for affixing identification indicia by stapling or heat sealing, in which means are provided for prevention of inadvertent marking of garments not belonging to a particular bundle, comprises a tape supply 10, tape 12 passing through a feed mechanism 16 to a printing station, including a plurality of type segment wheels 24, movable by handle portions 26 through a plurality of positions to form a type line at the printing station, where a printing arm 18 imprints a tag forming portion of the tape with the identification indicia and the tag is then advanced to an affixing station including a power-assisted garment arm 20, for affixing the tag forming portion to the garment and severing the tag from the tape. To prevent inadvertent marking of garments, the machine is provided with a clip board 32, having a spring-urged clip 42, pivotally mounted at 44, for removably affixing an invoice on to the surface of the board, so that upon removal of the invoice and movement of the clip 42, on completion of marking of the garments of a bundle, a micro-switch 46, Figs. 1 and 2, is momentarily closed to energize a solenoid 92, Fig. 2, whose armature contact 108 moves from a contact 102 to a contact 100, to disconnect the main's supply to the printing and garment arms controls 106. The invoice may now be imprinted with the corresponding indicia by manual depression of a spring- urged link 74, which actuates a micro-switch 70, to set the controls 106 into operation, the switch 70 opening upon release of the manuallyoperated link 74, disabling the controls once more. The controls are maintained in an inoperative position by a holding circuit comprising lines 90, 96 and 98 and the interposed energized relay coil 92, normally closed segment switch 68, fixed contact 100 and armature contact 108. The controls are re-set, when a new bundle of garments is to be marked by moving type wheels 24 to a new position, whereby the normally closed segment switch 68, will be momentarily opened by a detent arm 58, Fig. 1, on displacement of a roller 56 out of engagement with a pair of teeth 54 on a segment 52, thus breaking the holding circuit and deenergizing the coil 92 to return the armature 108 to its position shown in Fig. 2, thereby restoring the power to the controls 106. U.S.A. Specifications 2,598,438, 2,742,828 and 2,825,480 are referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 804,375.
