Abstract
829,993. Switch cases; retractive switches. SIMPLEX ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. April 12, 1956 [Jan. 13, 1955], No. 1042/55. Class 38 (5). [Also in Group XXXVI] An electrical device, such as a switch, has its working parts in a flame-proof housing which has a jointing face adapted to engage a separate flame-proof terminal chamber. The switch 22 is mounted on a boss 21 of a cover-plate 19 of a housing 12a, with connections 23 passing tightly through insulating bushes 24 to the terminals 25 in the chamber 11, the joints between parts 12a, 19 and 11 being flameproof. An operating spindle 27 passes in a flame-proof manner through a bush 28 in a boss 16 of the housing 12a and carries a lever 31 engaging the switch dolly 26. The terminal chamber 11 has four apertures 41 to receive bosses 21, which apertures have cover-plates 12 when not in use. Each device may be arranged on its own individual terminal chamber 57, Fig. 4, which shows a push-button switch 48, the housing 12a having a pushbutton 53 and a detent 55 for preventing operation of or, alternatively, -return of the button 53. The electrical device may be an indicating or measuring instrument (Fig. 5, not shown), or an indicator lamp (Fig. 6, not shown).
