Abstract

829,401. Packaging. BLACKBURN & GENERAL AIRCRAFT Ltd., and CLARK, F. M. July 9, 1957 [July 9, 1956], No. 21176/56. Class 94(1). [Also in Group XXXIII] An assembly for dropping from aircraft comprises a plywood or metal base 20 shown in perspective, Fig. 1, and part section, Fig. 3, provided with two plywood battens 21 supporting metals bars 23 co-operating with guide means in the aircraft freight hold. A metal strip 24 runs round and extends above the base and hooks 29 are provided at intervals. The load 25 is enclosed by four hardboard walls 26, 27 engaging the inner face of strip 24, and by hardboard sheets 30, and may be enclosed by a polythene cover 31. Two layers of resin bonded paper honeycomb shock-absorbing material 32, 33 separated by a hardboard sheet 34 are placed on top and enclosed in a polythene cover. A net 28 engaging hooks 29 secures the load, and a net 35 enclosed the shock absorbing layers is tied to net 28. The nets may be replaced by straps.
