Abstract

954,539. Cargo containers. NATIONAL CASTINGS CO. March 5, 1963 [March 9, 1962], No. 8799/63. Heading B8P. [Also in Division B7] A cargo container comprises tubular parts 10, 11 of non-metallic material connected together by a strip 14 and connected to metallic endframes 7, 9 by strips 12, 15, the whole being covered by a sheet 16. The lower part of the sections 10, 11 is outwardly bowed and is bonded to a floor 55, vertically arranged stiffeners 56 and inter-filling foamed plastic 57 to form an integral structure which is supported on longitudinal runners 17, 18 by which the container may be lifted by dogs 74. The sections 10, 11 are preferably made from a continuous sheet of paper or other material bonded with a suitable adhesive such as epoxy resin. The frames 7, 9 are recessed to accommodate the sections 10, 11 and are secured together by a resin adhesive. The strips 12, 14, 15 and the sheet 16 are preferably of glass-fibre impregnated resin fabric.
