Abstract
551,153. Boat &c. fenders. PECK, C. J. June 3, 1942, No. 7545. [Class 113 (i)] A fender for the gunwale of a boat or other watercraft comprises a length of felt padding 1, la encased in canvas or like fabric strips 2, 2a stuck and stitched together as at 3 to form laterally extending attachment flanges 2b. The felt padding preferably is semi-circular in cross section and it may be built up from laminated strip adhesively bonded together, or moulded from compacted and bonded fibres. The encasing canvas may extend beyond one or both ends of the felt padding so as to be folded in to seal the padding when two lengths of the fender are butted together in position on the craft. The encasing canvas may be single or multi-ply and may be doped with a preserving and water-resisting composition.
