Abstract

829,334. Oil burners. BRITISH THERMOSTAT CO. Ltd. May 27, 1958 [May 30, 1957], No. 17215/57. Class 75(1) The metering valve and air inlet damper of an oil burning appliance are operated by a single control which is also used to reset a safety shut-off device for the fuel supply. In the form shown, an operating knob 1 is carried on the end of a rod 3 secured to a sleeve 4 by a pin 5. The sleeve 4 surrounds thetop of the oil valve control rod 6 which carries a pin 7 engaging in a slot 8 in the sleeve 4. The rods 3 and 6 are held apart by a spring 9. The sleeve 4 carries a plate 10 in which is a cam slot engaging a pivoted lever, the other end of which operates the air inlet damper, so that adjustment of the oil valve and damper are co-ordinated. The apparatus has a safety device which operates to prevent overflow of the oil, for example as described in Specification 779,201. Resetting of this device is effected by pressing down the knob 1 against the action of the spring 9 and turning it, a shaped portion on the plate 10 then operating the trip lever 16 of the safety device.
