828,950. Sewage distributers. TEMPLEWOOD HAWKSLEY Ltd. March 10, 1958 [May 27, 1957], No. 16735/57. Class 69 (3). A rectangular filter bed with semi-circular ends has a central liquid supply trough 4 and one or more distributer arms 8 each fed from a syphon tube 9 and supported from a shaft 10 having wheels 11, 11a running on rails 6, 7. Each arm is driven by an electric motor 14 and a chain and chain-wheels which drive the supporting shaft, and each arm passes continuously along one half of the bed around a semi-circular end and along the other half and so on. In order to distribute even quantities of liquid sewage to all parts of the bed, each arm has two rows of orifices, both rows being open when moving over the straight parts of the bed, and one row being automatically closed by a fixed trigger which operates a flap-valve when the arm moves around the ends of the bed. A further trigger opens that row when that travel is concluded. Alternatively one row of orifices is arranged to distribute liquid evenly over the straight parts and the other row arranged to be in operation over the ends.
