Abstract

Dental fillings, crowns and prostheses are made from a mixture of an epoxy resin and a hardening agent, the latter being either a stable complex of a Friedel-Craft's catalyst or boron trifluoride with an organic compound. Suitable catalysts are stannic chloride, antimony pentachloride, zinc chloride and boron tri-fluoride and, if desired, these may be dissolved in a suitable solvent, preferably one which reacts with the resin to take part in the hardening action, such as alcohol. Polyglycidal ethers or esters are suitable resins but mixtures may be used. For convenience in use the catalyst may be stored as a liquid or as a paste, in the latter case, by being mixed with finely dispersed silica.ALSO:Dental fillings, crowns and prostheses are made from a mixture of an epoxy resin and a hardening agent, the latter being either a stable complex of a Friedel-Craft's catalyst or boron trifluoride with an organic compound.
