Abstract

827,133. Sheet-delivery apparatus. CHAMPLAIN CO. Inc. April 11, 1958, No. 11631/58. Class 100(1) Sheets 10, cut from a web 14 by a cutter 11 are conveyed at high speed by belts 20, 21 to belts 24, the leading edge of each sheet being held against the belt 24 by suction and the sheets being finally delivered between the nip of slow moving conveyers 30, 31 for delivery in overlapping formation to a stacker 12. The belts 24, which are suitably driven by a motor 13 at the same speed as the belts 20, 21, are provided with spaced sets of perforations 27 through which suction, supplied by a conduit 36 to a suction box 28, may be applied. The suction box 28 is disposed adjacent the lower run of the belts 24. The belts 24 are driven in timed relation to the cutter 11 in such a manner that the perforations 27 are always positioned adjacent the leading edge of an incoming sheet 10. To prevent slippage of the belts 24 they are provided with teeth 34 which co-operate with teeth 35 on the drive pulleys 26 over which the belts run. The suction box 28, which is open at the bottom is provided with rollers 37 for keeping the lower run of belts 24 horizontal.
