Abstract
1,010,733. Sheet-delivery apparatus. A. WINDMOLLER & M. GENRICH, [trading as WINDMOLLER & HOLSCHER]. Nov. 19, 1962 [Nov. 22, 1961], No. 43653/62. Heading B6H. In apparatus wherein flat articles 3, e.g. sections of flexible tubing issuing from an extrusion machine and severed into lengths by cutters 2, can be diverted by a deflector 8 alternately or in batches either to forwarding belts 10 depositing the articles in overlapping formation on a belt 12 or to belts 9 similarly depositing the articles on belts 11, the dedositing belts 11, 12 are driven from one motor, and the belts 9, 10 are driven either from another motor 14 through a one-way clutch or from the main machine also through a one-way or overrunning clutch; which drive actuates the belts 9, 10 depends on the speed of the articles leaving the machine, i.e. the speed of the machine. Faulty delivery of the articles from the belts 9, 10 to the belts 11, 12, which might occur if the belts 9, 10 were driven from the machine and moving slowly during starting or slow running of the machine, is thus prevented. Articles leaving the cutters 2 are speeded up by rollers 4, 5, 6, 7 forming part of the machine. The shaft 16 of the roller 6 is coupled by an over-running clutch 20 to a pulley 22 over which passes belts 23, 24 driving the forwarding belts 9, 10. A motor 14 can also drive the pulley 22 through an over-running clutch 21, this drive being operative to move the belts 9, 10 at a sufficient speed for proper article delivery when the machine is running slowly, the clutch 20 then over-running because of the high speed of pulley 22 compared to the speed of shaft 16. If the speed of roll 6 is such as to cause over-running of the motor clutch 21, an automatic control cuts out the motor; the control automatically switches on the motor if the speed of the roller 6 drops. In a modification, Figs. 3, 4 (not shown), the shaft 16 of roller 6 drives, through an over-running clutch, a pulley over which pass belts driving another pulley over which passes the drive belts for the forwarding belts 10, 11. This second pulley is mounted by means of an over-running clutch on a shaft driven by a belt from a second motor. As in the first embodiment, the drive of conveyers 9, 10 is effected from the motor, when the roller 6 is running slowly.
