Abstract

827,054. Luggage racks for vehicles. AUSTER Ltd., and SMALL, W. W. April 14, 1958 [April 16, 1957], No. 12343/57. Class 103(2) In a luggage rack for a car roof according to Specification 827,053 the lateral arms 7, Fig. 1, can be adjusted to suit differing widths of roofs by inserting bolts 8 through holes 16 in the top face 3 of rack frame members 2. Alternatively, the holes 16 may be in the arms 7 or the arms may be slotted to receive the bolts 8. In a modification, the arms 7, Fig. 5, are slidably mounted in a guide member 18 bolted to the underside of the frame member 2. The arms 7 are retained in position by screws 20 passing through holes in the member 18 and engaging spaced recesses 19 in the lower face of the arm. A pivotally-mounted rubber buffer or pad 11 is carried on each arm to seat the arm on the roof. Specification 827,055 also is referred to.
