Plate element 16 is moved along guide rails 3, 4, 5, 6 to different parallel positions under control of at least two systems of links 12, 14 attached by flexible strips 15 to the plate 16 along different directions in the plane of the plate, the links also being connected together and to the guide rails by flexible strips 13 and 10, 11 respectively. Additional link systems may be provided for bodies which extend in the direction of movement.
