Abstract
827,025. Communication platforms for railway vehicles. SCHWEIZERISCHE INDUSTRIE-GESELLSCHAFT. June 6, 1957 [June 7, 1956], No. 18098/57. Class 103(4) An intercommunication passage in the form of a rigid tubular portion 3 is attached to railway coaches 1, 2 by means of a lever system in such a manner that sealing elements 23, 24, 25, disposed between the portion 3 and the walls of the coaches, are loaded by forces originating only from the relative movements of the portion 3 and the coaches 1, 2, inertia forces being taken by the level system. Said relative movements are readily determinable from the relative position of the coaches 1, 2 as they traverse the tracks. The portion 3 is carried on a ball joint 4 by a yoke 5 connected to the coaches 1 and 2 by levers 6 and 7, and the portion 3 is also connected below to the coaches 1 and 2 by means of links 17, 18, supported on brackets 19, 20, and above by means of links 13, 14 attached to a two-armed lever 12 carried by a pin 11 on the portion 3. The connections between the yoke 5 and the levers 6, 7 and between the links 17, 18 and the brackets 19, 20 are provided with resilient inserts which permit limited universal movement. The portion 3 and the lever system may be constructed as a unit provided with two end frames which carry the lever system and the sealing elements and is inserted into corresponding openings in the coaches.
