826,885. Ammunition fuzes. BREVETS AERO-MECANIQUES S. A. Nov. 19, 1957 [Dec. 12, 1956], No. 36030/57. Class 9(1) A direct-action fuze for rotated projectiles provided with self-destruction means comprises a spring-stressed sleeve 1 slidable in the fuze body 2 and bearing against a flange on the firing pin 4 to urge the pin towards a primer 5. While the angular velocity of the projectile exceeds a given value, balls 6 housed in radial recesses in the sleeve 1 bear against inclined surfaces 7 of an outer sleeve 8 to prevent movement of the sleeve 1 towards the primer. So that the inner sleeve 1 shall rotate with the same velocity as the sleeve 8, a finger 10 projects from sleeve 8 into a groove 9 in sleeve 1. In a modification, Fig. 3, the outer sleeve 11 is also slidable in the body 2 and bears against centrifugal masses 12 which lock the firing pin. The outer sleeve is keyed to the inner sleeve by a projection 10‹ engaged in a groove 9‹. The outer sleeve may be positively coupled to the fuze body 2. Specification 605,683 is referred to.
