826,649. Feeding webs. MIEHLE-GOSSDEXTER Inc.- April 10, 1956 [April 21, 1955], No. 5094/59. Divided out of 826,647. Drawings to Specification. Class 100(1) The apparatus described is the same as that in Specification 826,647 wherein the tension of a web is maintained at a desired value during.the splicing of a new roll by a brake responsive to a signal from the running web tension control system, but the claims are directed to web splicing apparatus comprising a new roll having adhesive on its leading edge mounted rotatably on a spindle near the running web, roll rotating means, a positionable paster carriage carrying separately controlled web deflecting and severing means, and a cam rotatable with the spindle for operating contacts whereby the deflecting and severing means are actuated in response to successive opening and closure of the contacts.
