826,517. Curtain walls; glazing. QUICKTHO (1928) Ltd. March 13, 1958 [April 23, 1957], No. 12949/57. Classes 20(3) and 20(4). In curtain walling of the kind comprising spaced, vertical mullions interconnected by spaced, horizontal transoms, and wall panels or windows filling the spaces between the mullions and transoms, means are provided for conducting moisture collected on the inner side of the panels &c. to the interiors of the mullions, the latter discharging the moistureto the outer side of the walling. As shown, the aluminium alloy mullions 1 of doublechannel cross-section have lateral flanges 2 against which are positioned the panels 3 and are seated on a light-alloy sill 5 of inverted channel-section having an upstanding rib 9 forming with the panels 3 a moisture-collecting channel 10. In alignment with the latter, and in the side walls of the mullions, are openings for drainage of moisture from the channels- Outer cover plates 1a provided on the mullions have openings 12 through which moisture flows as indicated by the arrow A. The side walls of the mullions terminate in horizontal lower edges and define with the sloping sill portion 5a wedgeshaped openings 13 through which water in the mullions drains as indicated by the arrow B. The transom member 14, Fig. 4, is supported on a wall or panel 15 and is formed with a flange 18, which together with a web 17, defines a collecting channel 19 communicating with the interiors of the mullions by way of aligned openings in the side walls of the mullions.
