826,451. Gathering flower-heads. VAN KOPPEN, J. T. July 2, 1958, No. 21246/58. Class 6(3). A machine for cutting off and gathering the flower heads of bulbs comprises a travelling frame 8 carrying a guiding device 13 projecting forwardly above a cutter 14 and includes a mechanism 35, 36 for carrying away the cutheads, the guiding device consisting of pairs of endless belts, 27, 28, Fig. 4, passed around pulleys 15, 16, 21, 22 rotating in a horizontal plane, the pulleys 21, 22 at the entrance end 33 of the space between adjacent concurrentlyrunning belts being resiliently urged together so that stems may pass into the space but not the leaves. The cutting, guiding and conveying means are mounted in a framework 9 which is adjustably mounted on the wheeled frame 8 by screws 12. The cutter 14 is a single fixed blade. The means for conveying the cutheads comprises two co-operating endless conveyers 35, 36 feeding to a receptacle 37.
