Class 137 An air register, particularly for mounting on the inside edge of the front door of a motor vehicle to discharge cooled or heated air into the rear seat passenger compartment, comprises a universal action lever 74 for the independent, or simultaneous, actuation of a front set of vertical louvres 34 and a rear set of horizontal louvres 41. The register comprises a retainer 24 secured to a front frame 14 having an upper conical recess 21 for the lever 74, and a lower rectangular opening 14 the walls 17 and 16 (not shown) of which have arcuate holes 18, 19 to receive bearing extensions or the louvres 34, 41 which are held in position by pre-stressed bent leaf springs 35 and 44 (not shown). The lever 74 has a ball-like portion 76 located in a conical aperture 22 in the recess 21 and in arcuate mounting legs 58 and 71 (not shown) of front and rear yokes 57, 66 which are slotted at 61 and 67 to receive an extension 78 on the lever 74. An arm 62 depends from the lowermost leg 58 and has a pin 63 engaging a slot 64 in a guide 39 which extends through an opening 31 in a depending web 32 with an inclined rear face 33, and which is secured to the upper parts of the front louvres 34. A link 69 depends from one of the legs 71 and is pivotally connected by a rod 72 to the lower leg 73 of a plate 48 pivotally connected to anchors 46 bent down from the louvres 41. The register is closed when the uppermost louvre 41 strikes the face 33.
