Abstract
825,615. Valves. EMHART MANUFACTURING CO. Oct. 29, 1957 [Nov. 13, 1956], No. 33700/57. Classes 69 (2) and 135. To actuate piston 11, switch 17a is thrown to connect the pump 13 to line 20, say, and line 19 to exhaust. Since the springs 33 are weaker than the springs 37, the piston 26 (on the left) is pushed back first to admit liquid via ports 34, 35 to the lower side of the piston 11. Piston 23a (on the left) is then pushed back, pulling with it the upper plunger 23. The pressure above piston 11 then pushes the right-hand valve 31 to the left, so that liquid can flow via ports 35, 34 and line 19 to exhaust. A neutral position of switch 17a will lock the motor, but if excessive pressure occurs valve 31, plunger 23 and piston 23a can be pushed back to allow liquid to escape.
