Abstract

1,212,072. Hydraulic motor control circuits. EATON VALE & TOWNE Inc. Feb.14, 1968 [Feb.23, 1967], No.7283/68. Heading F1P. In a hydraulic control circuit comprising a piston and cylinder 10, 12 e.g., a gravity-loaded jack of the movable cylinder type and a highpressure supply line 16 selectively connected through a control valve 32 either to a supply pump 26 or to a return reservoir 34, the supply line 16 includes a pilot-operated check valve 36 adjacent a cylinder port 14 and which closes when supply pressure is low and is held open by pilot pressure in a branch line 38 of supply line 16 whereof loss of pressure in line 16 results in closure of valve 36 and hydraulic locking of the piston and cylinder. Valve 32 in position a connects a pump delivery line 28 to the supply line 16 thereby raising the loaded cylinder 12 and fluid is exhausted through a port 18, a line 20, valve 32 and a line 50 leading to reservoir 34. Valve 32 in position c connects the pump delivery line 28 to a relief valve 22 in a branch 24 of line 20 and the so-reduced pressure in line 20 serves to lower the cylinder 12 whilst fluid is exhausted through port 14, valve 36, line 16 a needle valve 46, valve 32 and return line 50; the necessary pilot pressure in line 38 being provided by a second pump 40 which delivers through a line 42 and a non-return valve 44 to line 16 and hence to line 38.
