Abstract

966,094. Hydraulic apparatus. TAYLOR WOODROW CONSTRUCTION Ltd. Oct. 3, 1961 [Oct. 7, 1960], No. 34488/60. Heading F1P. [Also in Division E1] An hydraulic control circuit for a pile driving/ extracting apparatus using hydraulic jacks 11 (see Division E1) comprises solenoid operated valves 28 which each control the movement of a jack. Four oil pumps 24 are located in pairs in reservoirs 25 and each pair serves four jacks 11. Amplifier valves 30 are provided to load the pumps 24 and are normally open when the apparatus is not in operation to pass oil back to the reservoirs 25. When it is required to operate selected jacks 11, to either drive or extract a pile, the solenoids on the valves 28 and 30 are energized from a control desk (not shown) to open valves in the pilot pressure circuits (shown chain-dotted) to act upon the valves 28 and 30. The selected valve 30 closes to stop oil being returned to the reservoir 25 and the valve or valves 28 open to operate the jack or jacks 11. Metering valves 31 provide speed control for the jacks 11 and relief valves 32 and 33 control the maximum working pressures. 35, 36 and 37 arc non-return valves and 38 incorporate orifices to control the rate at which oil is returned from the jacks 11 to the reservoirs 25. Pressure fluid can be directed to either side of any jack with any combination of jacks in operation simultaneously and jacks can be hydraulically locked whilst others are operated. The operation of the control valves may be manual or automatic.
